The Eleena Dress

I recently had the pleasure to pattern test the new Eleena Dress pattern by the talented Olga of Coffee + Thread.  I was immediately drawn to the vintage look and feel of the dress and I knew that I had to sew one up for my daughter.

I really like all of the options this pattern offers.  It has an inverted pleat that can be one cohesive color or a fun dramatic accent color.  It also has an optional collar, an invisible zipper and three sleeve options – a long cuffed sleeve with a short sleeve, and a flutter sleeve.  I chose to sew a  sleeveless summer version ( that we had to photograph in the snow.)  My daughter can’t wait to wear it in warm weather!
This was such a fun and easy dress to sew.  I love the pop of color that the invert offers.

I can definitely see more Eleena Dresses in my future!  There is one more day left on the tour, so go and check out all of the amazing seamstresses at Coffee and Thread .  I’m sure you too will be inspired to give the Eleena Dress a try.

Trinity Tee

I had the great pleasure to test out a wonderful knit tee shirt by Rebecca Holmes of Rock The Stitch.  My daughter lives in knits so I knew this would be the pattern for her!

This pattern includes three different sleeve lengths; long, 3/4 length and short.  I tested the 3/4 length sleeve and it fit just right.  I really like the ability to mix and match fabrics.  There is a zipper option which would allow you to use a cotton fabric for the center insert.

My daughter has already requested another shirt so in my book this pattern is a winner!

You can find the Trinity Tee pattern on Rockthestitch on etsy.com.  Hurry and see one up today!

Inspiration

I don’t know about you but I am always looking for things that inspire me.  Today my inspiration is homemade dried strawberries.

I just took some ripe strawberries, sliced them in 1/2 inch slices, placed them in my Nesco Dehydrator and let the machine do the work for me.  I decided to add them to some homemade granola.

Dried Strawberry and Fig Granola.  So Yummy and definitely inspiring!

Hello

Hello lovely peonies!  There is just something about beautiful paper thin petals that inspire me to create.  Inspiration can come from the simplest of things, just when you least expect it.  Hop on over to my Etsy shop, where I have listed some new Spring/Summer items.  Here’s a sneak peak….

New Beginnings

And so it begins…….. A start to something I have dreamed about for many years.  I am sharing parts of myself with you. My thoughts and feelings and my passion for being creative.

I have always been a person fueled by creativity.  When I had my first daughter, I wanted her to wear outfits that were unique.  Sure I could have gone to the store and bought her some really cute clothes, and I did, but there was a certain satisfaction I got from knowing that I had sewn her the outfits she was wearing.  Later I was blessed with my son and another daughter.  With that came more opportunities to be creative. More opportunities to sew, scrapbook and craft.  This past year my family moved across the country and the time finally seemed right to start my own small  sewing business called Pearywinkle.

So welcome to my new blog, my new adventure. Enjoy!
